These Terms are the agreement between you and the people who run roomsφ. They are written in plain English on purpose.
roomsφ is run by Chip, based in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.
You can reach us at anyaanyinyaa@gmail.com. We read every message, and we aim to answer within a few days.
roomsφ is for adults. You may only use it if you are 18 or older. During onboarding you confirm your birth year; if we learn that an account belongs to someone under 18, we close it.
You sign in with your Google, Telegram or Discord account. See the Privacy Policy for what we receive from each; we do not keep their access tokens after sign-in. Each sign-in method is a separate roomsφ account.
Keep that account safe: anyone who can sign in to it can use your roomsφ account. If you think someone else is using your account, tell us at anyaanyinyaa@gmail.com.
You can delete your account at any time in Settings. See "Ending your account" below for what happens then.
roomsφ is a place to practise speaking a language with other people in small audio rooms. You join a room, talk, and leave when you like. There is text chat next to the voice, with tools to correct each other and save words.
roomsφ never records audio. Your voice is passed live from your browser to the other people in the room through our media server and is not stored anywhere.
Other people in a room could record it with outside tools (for example a phone or screen-recording software). These Terms forbid recording a room unless every person in it has agreed. If you notice someone recording, use the Report button.
roomsφ is a hobby-sized service run by a small team. It may be unavailable at times, and features may change or disappear.
The short version: be kind, practise the room's language, and respect other people's privacy and limits.
The full rules are the Community Guidelines. They are part of these Terms.
Anyone can report a person or a room with the Report button. Reports are reviewed by our staff. Room hosts can also mute, remove or lock out people in their own room.
New accounts start with a low Trust Level and gain more freedom (more rooms, bigger rooms, links in chat) as they take part without problems.
If you break these Terms or the Community Guidelines, we may:
We always show you the reason for a sanction. If you think we got it wrong, write to anyaanyinyaa@gmail.com and tell us why; our staff review the decision.
What you write in chat, your profile text and your word lists are yours. You give us only the permission we need to run the service: to store your content, show it to the people it is meant for, and remove it when the rules say so.
Chat messages are kept for 90 days and then deleted, except messages attached to a report, which are kept until the report is closed plus 180 days.
Do not post content that you have no right to share, such as other people's private messages or copyrighted text.
You can leave at any time:
Some records are kept for a while after deletion for safety and legal reasons: reports and sanctions about the account are kept for 180 days, and server logs are kept as described in the Privacy Policy.
We may close your account if you break these Terms, or if roomsφ shuts down. If roomsφ shuts down we will try to tell you in advance so you can download your data.
roomsφ is provided "as is". We do not promise that it will always work, that other people will behave, or that the language advice you get in a room is correct.
roomsφ is not for emergencies. If you or someone else is in danger, contact your local emergency services.
To the extent the law allows, our total liability to you for anything related to roomsφ is limited to 1,000 AED (one thousand UAE dirhams). Nothing in these Terms limits rights that the law of your country gives you and that cannot be limited by contract.
These Terms are governed by the laws of the United Arab Emirates as applied in the Emirate of Dubai. If you live somewhere else, you may also have protections under the law of your own country that we cannot take away.
If something goes wrong, please write to anyaanyinyaa@gmail.com first; most problems are solved with a conversation. If that fails, disputes are handled by the courts of Dubai, United Arab Emirates, unless the law of your country says otherwise.
We may change these Terms as roomsφ grows. Small corrections take effect when they are published. For a material change we post the new version with its effective date at Change history at least 14 days before it applies.
Every version, with its date and a short summary of what changed, is listed at Change history. If you keep using roomsφ after a change takes effect, the new Terms apply to you.
