About roomsφ
roomsφ is a free website for practising speaking a language with real people. Take a seat in a small voice room at your level, talk for as long as you like and leave when you want. Mistakes are welcome.
How it works
Sign in and pick your languages
Sign in with a social account, then choose the languages you speak and the ones you are learning, each with your level from A1 to C2. roomsφ is for adults: you confirm that you are 18 or older.
Find a room
The Lobby lists the live voice rooms. Each room has one practice language, a level (beginner, intermediate, advanced or any), an optional topic and 2 to 10 seats. Filter by language, level and topic, or press "Join a room at my level".
Talk
Everyone in a room has a seat and can speak; there is no audience. Rooms are voice only, without camera. A text chat and quick reactions sit next to the voice.
Start your own room
Give it a title, a practice language and a number of seats, and choose who can find it: anyone in the Lobby, only your friends, or only people with the link. New accounts start with smaller rooms.
Meet people again
Follow the people you enjoyed talking with. When you follow each other you become friends: you see which room the other one is in and can join them.
Who it is for
Language learners who want speaking practice rather than lessons: Indonesians practising English first, and anyone practising English, Indonesian, Japanese, Korean or another language. Native speakers who like to help are welcome too.
